Gus K. Hartl
Chief Executive Officer

Gus moved to the Aldergrove area in 1973 with his parents and five older brothers. Growing up, he played hockey in the Aldergrove minor Hockey Association. He graduated from Abbotsford Senior Secondary School in 1978 and went on to earn a diploma in Business Management and Administration from the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), graduating in 1980. In 2008, he received the Distinguished Alumni award from UFV.

Gus has been in the financial services industry since 1980, starting his career at a chartered bank, followed by a finance company. He has spent the last 25 years in the Credit Union System in various roles including Branch Manager and Operations Manager. He has been with Aldergrove Credit Union since 2001 and was extremely proud to become CEO in the fall of 2006.

Gus is actively involved in the Credit Union System serving on several System Committees. He is also currently the President of the Credit Union Foundation of BC.

Gus is a charter member of the Aldergrove Rotary Club and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow. Over the years, he has been involved with the Abbotsford Chamber, Children’s Hospital and United Way fundraising, and an Abbotsford Slo-Pitch League Executive.

An avid sportsman and competitor, Gus still enjoys playing hockey and slo-pitch. He enjoys travelling with friends to various camping destinations in their fifth wheel and getting out for a casual game of golf.

Gus has been married to his wife Brenda since 1983. They have two daughters – Jessica and husband Brad German, who made them proud grandparents to two granddaughters, and youngest daughter Meagan.

Bob Eilers
Vice President, Credit & Risk

Bob joined Aldergrove Credit Union in 2006. With over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including a chartered bank, trust companies and credit unions, Bob brings a wealth of expertise and experience to Aldergrove Credit Union.

As a member of the executive team, in his role as Vice President, Credit Risk & Business Solutions, Bob has the overall responsibility of credit, as well as, information technology and internal operations. 

Bob is passionate about giving back to the community and has served on the board of various non-profit organizations over the years. He has served as the treasurer of Encompass Support Services Society for the past 8 years.

Bob is a lifelong resident of the Lower Mainland and has resided in Abbotsford since 1995. Bob is married to his wife Hedy and has two daughters and a son-in-law. He is an avid golfer and loves gardening and traveling.


Val Mackey
Vice President, People and Culture

Val grew up in Burnaby, graduating from Cariboo Hill Senior Secondary School in 1984. She was active in many sports including soccer, softball and ice hockey.

Val has been in the financial services industry since 1985. She spent 20 years at a major bank and was a Branch Manager with them for eight years. Val joined Aldergrove Credit Union in 2006 and now serves as Vice President, People and Culture. Her role encompasses the oversight of recruitment, employee development, compensation and benefits, and maintaining positive human resource practices. She has a passion for service excellence.

Val is actively involved with BC Children’s Hospital and the United Way of the Fraser Valley fundraising initiatives. She is currently the Chair of the Credit Union, Insurance and Financial Service Division Committee with Children’s Hospital and has previously been involved with the Surrey Food Bank and the CIBC Run for the Cure.

Val has been married to Danny since 1989. They have two sons, Scott and Brett, both of whom are active hockey players and referees. She loves to watch her boys play hockey, spending time with family and travelling to tropical destinations.

Thom Meyer
Vice President, Finance

In his role as Vice President, Finance & Risk Management, Thom leads various areas of operation including finance, risk management, payments operations, and technology. He is a graduate of the University of the Fraser Valley.

Thom has been a part of the Aldergrove Credit Union family for over 20 years and has experienced all facets of the credit union’s service to members and communities.

When not working, he enjoys the great outdoors with his family.

Tracy Yolland
Vice President, Member Experience

Tracy moved to Abbotsford, BC in 1978 with her parents and older brother. She graduated from WJ Mouat and was active in softball, slo-pitch and curling. 

Tracy ‘grew up’ in the credit union system. Over the past 24 years, her career in the financial services industry has taken her  throughout the lower mainland. She has held a variety of leadership roles in the branch and administration including Assistant Manager, Branch Manager and Division Manager. She joined Aldergrove Credit Union in January 2011.

As a member of the executive team, in her role as Vice President, Member Experience, Tracy reinforces the corporate direction and desired culture of the organization by establishing and implementing corporate strategies to achieve overall corporate growth objectives. She is responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of branch operations, including service and sales delivery; commercial banking operations; general insurance and financial planning operations. She holds a strong commitment to member/client service. 

Tracy was a previous board member and active volunteer at a local hospital foundation and child development centre. She is a past member of the Ladner Rotary Club and was active in the Chamber of Commerce in Abbotsford, Langley and South Delta.

On the weekends, you’ll find Tracy and Larry golfing throughout lower mainland courses. They enjoy travelling to Palm Springs or other warm destinations during the fall and winter. In her spare time, Tracy enjoys gardening and spending time with her family.
